Epic Crossover: Turtles of Grayskull – MOTU Origins x TMNT

Prepare yourselves, folks, because the crossover we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: Turtles of Grayskull – a fusion of the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Masters of the Universe Origins universes! The excitement is off the charts as we gear up to witness our beloved MOTU characters transform into turtle-powered heroes, and vice versa. The initial glimpse of this epic fusion occurred at Toy Fair 2023 when Leonardo’s cardback was revealed, and it’s safe to say we’re in for a treat. Mattel’s official announcement states, “The sewer-dwelling heroes in a half-shell meet the warriors of Eternia in the Masters of the Universe Origins Turtles of Grayskull, coming Spring 2024.” From the image they shared, it’s evident that they’re going all out with this lineup!

On the MOTU side of things, we have a star-studded cast with the likes of Beast Man, Skeletor, Trap Jaw, Ram-Man, Hordak, Man-At-Arms, Teela, and, of course, He-Man. Meanwhile, the TMNT side of the equation brings to the party Shredder, Krang, Casey Jones, Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Splinter. It’s a dream come true for fans of both franchises.

The exciting part? This crossover goes both ways, promising to be a thrilling ride. The first set of revealed figures includes Leonardo, Donatello, Man-At-Arms, Krang, an intriguing mutation of He-Man, and a Trap Jaw Mouser hybrid. If that doesn’t spark your curiosity, I don’t know what will. It appears that these figures are using the MOTU Origins body, a deviation from the Filmation Cartoon Collection line. We’re hoping that the interchangeability of parts, a hallmark of MOTU Origins, is maintained in this lineup, adding even more fun to the mix.

Leonardo: Our favorite katana-wielding turtle, Leonardo, takes on a fresh look, blending his signature blue bandana with the distinctive MOTU-style body. His attire boasts blue shoulder armor and a chest piece adorned with an “L” in true MOTU style at its center.

Donatello: Donatello is transformed into a TMNT version of Man-At-Arms, sporting purple armor and wielding a staff that seems to draw inspiration from MAA’s mace.

Krang: This version of Krang is a sight to behold. He appears to use part of the Andre the Giant body from the WWE line, complete with the iconic Krang Robot head, visor, and a Horde or Skeleton emblazoned chest armor. The brain, centrally placed in the stomach, seems to be detachable, which is a win for fans of the interchangeability between MOTU Origins figures. With a red helmet and gloves, a black loin cloth accented by a bronze colored chain, and red boots, Krang is ready to conquer both worlds.

Man-At-Arms: Man-At-Arms retains his classic look but incorporates a turtle shell shield and his iconic mace. Equipped with his familiar yellow armor, he’s ready for action.

Mutated He-Man: He-Man undergoes a radical transformation, sporting blue translucent skin and armor reminiscent of Anti-Eternia armor. It appears to be a mutated version, perhaps a result of the Mutagen, or Ooze, from the TMNT universe. He wields a silver spiked club, a familiar reuse of Spikor’s MOTU Origins club.

Trap Jaw aka Mouse Jaw: This iteration of Trap Jaw is electrifying. With a white helmet and a flame attachment featuring a blast effect reminiscent of the Mouser from TMNT, this figure promises unique playability. Additionally, it appears that Trap Jaw’s belt attachments can be used to create an actual Mouser, which would be incredible for army building. All the mousers! All of them!

The Power Con 2023 Reveal showcased the Leonardo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Masters of the Universe crossover in all its glory. A cardboard cutout featuring Leonardo gave us a glimpse of what the card front might look like, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. The fusion of the iconic Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brands is evident in the chest armor, shoulder armor, and loin armor, making it a true collector’s dream.

The Turtles of Grayskull logo is a visual treat, featuring illustrations of He-Man, the Turtles, and classic rock bursts. The anticipation for the Spring 2024 releases couldn’t be higher, and we can’t wait to see how this crossover unfolds. This is a crossover for the ages, and the possibilities are endless.
