Clawful: The Bumbling Brute of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors

Clawful, the man-crab hybrid, is a formidable member of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors in the Masters of the Universe franchise. With his large and sharp claws, he can crush the life out of his opponents, and in most media, his right claw is extra large, achieving an extra-deadly grip.

In the original series, Clawful led a group of evil warriors in an attempt to capture the heroic Fisto and Stridor. Although he was one of Skeletor's most trusted henchmen, Clawful once claimed his desire to overthrow Skeletor and become leader of the evil warriors himself. He also stole an artifact called the Horn of Evil from Orko's homeworld of Trolla.

In the 2002 series, Clawful was an incredibly strong member of the Evil Warriors but also the most dimwitted, to the point that he could not even understand the language of his own people. He participated in Keldor’s attack on the Hall of Wisdom and was trapped with him and the other evil warriors behind the Mystic Wall for years before they finally broke free. Despite serving Skeletor loyally, his bumbling stupidity frequently incurred the overlord of evil’s wrath.

Clawful also made an appearance in Masters of the Universe Revelation, where he participated in Skeletor's final assault against Castle Grayskull, driving a Land Shark into battle at the head of the armies of Snake Mountain. Later, he formed part of the force that attempted to stop Teela and Andra from infiltrating the castle, but was dragged away by the Orlax.

Clawful also made an appearance in Masters of the Universe Revelation, where he participated in Skeletor’s final assault against Castle Grayskull, driving a Land Shark into battle at the head of the armies of Snake Mountain. Later, he formed part of the force that attempted to stop Teela and Andra from infiltrating the castle along with Webstor, Spikor, and Blade, but was dragged away by the Orlax.

Clawful, an iconic villain of the Masters of the Universe franchise, has appeared in only two of the minicomics that came with the toys. Despite this, he remains a fan favorite. Clawful was designed by the Four Horsemen for the 2002 toyline, but unfortunately, the line was canceled before his figure could be released. In 2004, a mini statue of the character was produced by NECA. However, fans will be delighted to know that there will finally be a new action figure of Clawful released in the New Eternia Masterverse line in 2023. Described as having a huge claw arm, removable shell backpack, chest and arm armor pieces, a staff and shield, this new figure is sure to be a must-have for fans of the franchise alongside the New Eternia Webstor and New Eternia Deluxe Whiplash!
